I’m pleased to announce the release of my new book, Getting Started with Zero Trust: Five Ways to Begin a Successful Initiative. I wrote this to provide concrete guidance, and to recommend ways by which enterprises can and should begin their Zero Trust journeys.

In the book, I introduce five “on-ramps” which are common and sound candidates for initial Zero Trust projects: VPN Replacement, Cloud Migration, DevOps, Administrator Access, and Business Process-Driven Access.

For each of these, we look at the before-and-after architectures, map it to the 5-step Zero Trust process (from the NSTAC report), and discuss considerations for whether and how each on-ramp is appropriate for a given enterprise.

I also spend some time introducing the need to “sell” Zero Trust to various stakeholders within your enterprise, and talk about what will resonate and be meaningful to IT, Security, Technical and (most importantly) Business audiences.

This book is by no means exhaustive–I kept it focused and short (80 pages!) in order to keep it readable, and, frankly, so I could get it released sooner. Our Zero Trust industry is moving so quickly, and there’s such a need for this guidance. I share the sense of urgency that so many enterprises have about getting started with Zero Trust.

I’m keen to get your feedback on the book, so feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn, Mastodon, or here at info@numberlinesecurity.com

The book is available in print and Kindle formats from Amazon, and for digital purchase from the Numberline digital media store.
